16-Channel Data Logger Modules Can Run Stand-alone or Tethered, Act as Internet Data Servers All at Low CostAKRON, OH, June 1, 2004 — DATAQ® Instruments announces the release of the DI-710 Series of 16-channel data logger modules that break new ground in price/performance, providing 14 bits of resolution, up to 1 GB of memory on a removable module, a built-in channel gain scan list, and quick and easy computer interface via either USB or Ethernet — all at prices starting below $400 — hundreds less than competitive units that sometimes even offer less performance. No other data acquisition modules in this class offer this choice of interfaces, nor this set of features, at a comparable price. Units are available in both stand-alone and wire-connected versions. The stand-alone units feature a removable Secure Digital (SD) memory module with available capacity up to 1 GB and can be used with or without a PC connection, while tethered units connect directly to the PC. Connection to the PC is via USB or Ethernet. Powerful Data Acquisition Server CapabilityDI-710 Stand-alone data loggers are the first in their price range to offer data acquisition server capability. Acting as a server allows stand-alone instruments to locally and independently acquire data to their SD memories, and then make that acquired data available upon demand, either by plugging the SD memory device into a reader, or uploading via the USB or Ethernet interface. Ethernet-enabled DI-710s provide the most power and flexibility. A DI-710 with an Ethernet interface and built-in memory transparently becomes like any other computer on a network, able to share recorded data over a network to a PC on the other side of the facility, or over the Internet to a PC on the other side of the world. These stand-alone instruments can be added easily and seamlessly to existing networks without incremental bandwidth burdens, storing data in SD memory and uploading on demand. Stand-alone data loggers can also be controlled locally using multifunction push-button control and multicolored, red, green, orange LED status indicator. The stand-alone version's built-in Secure Digital (SD) socket accepts the same memory cards used by consumer electronic devices like MP3 players and digital cameras. Memory capacities are 16 MB to 1 GB in a record-until-full, or a continuous circular FIFO configuration. All members of the DI-710 Series are available with either low-level or high-level inputs and feature 14-bit measurement resolution, sixteen analog input channels (each configurable for gain and either single-ended or in pairs for differential operation), a real-time clock, and an 8-bit digital bidirectional I/O port. PC-tethered instruments stream data to the PC at rates from 0.048 samples per hour to 4800 samples per second, while stand-alone units store to their internal SD memory at 0.44 Hz to 14,400 samples per second. All DI-710 data loggers have removable, 16-position screw terminal access connectors and are housed in a small (13.81D × 10.48W × 3.81 cm; 5 7/16D × 4 1/8W × 1 1/2H inches) enclosure consisting of an aluminum base, all-steel wraparound, and aluminum end plates. Input power is 9-36 VDC, allowing for battery operation in remote or portable applications; an AC adaptor is also included. Major specificationsNumber of analog input channels: 16 single-ended or 8 differential Included softwareAll versions of the DI-710 family are shipped with and ActiveX control programming library, and WinDaq real time waveform acquisition, display, recording, and analysis software. Stand-alone versions include "Stand-alone Setup" and the "Uploader" Software. Key Product Features
