Open a File and Record Data in WinDaq

FacebooktwitterredditlinkedinmailFacebooktwitterredditlinkedinmail

It has come to our attention that some WinDaq users are having trouble recording data. Upon choosing ‘Record’ from the ‘File’ pull-down menu, they’re never prompted for a file name or file size/record time.

While we haven’t been able to duplicate this behavior here at DATAQ as of yet, we do have a workaround for those experiencing the issue.

Open a File, and then Record

For the majority of WinDaq users, choosing ‘Record’ from the ‘File’ pulldown menu generates a Windows prompt, allowing you to enter a file name and specify a file size (in Kilobytes) or total record time (in hh:mm:ss).

If you’re choosing ‘Record’ and getting stuck in the mud, choose ‘Open’ instead.

Choosing ‘Open’ allows you to create a file to which data can be recorded.

With the file created, and a file size/record time specified, choose ‘Record’ from the ‘File’ pull-down menu to begin acquiring data.

Upon choosing ‘Record’, you’ll see “% used” at the top of the screen, and a status of “RECORD” at the bottom.
