Setting a Static IP to your Network Card

If you consistently see the "Searching for IP" message and Windows is taking too long to resolve the IP Address, set your Network Card IP Address to Static. Note: This could disable the connection to your network if you are normally connected to your network through this Network Card.

  1. Access Network Connections. How you access Network Connections is dependant on your Windows configuration. Possible options include but are not limited to:
  1. Click Start > Settings > Network Connections.
  2. Click Start > Control Panel. Click on Network Connections in the Control Panel.
  1. Right-click on the Network card your DATAQ Instruments devices are connected to and select Properties.

  1. In the Local Area Connection Properties window select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click on the Properties button.

  1. In the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties window select Use the following IP address. Windows default is shown below. Note the settings for future reference.

  1. Enter an IP address in the space provided. Warning: Before connecting to your network through this network card you MUST revert to the old settings noted in Step 4 above.

  1. A Subnet mask should be entered automatically - if not, enter a subnet mask.
  2. Click OK to set your Network Card IP Address.

When the TCP/IP Manager is run, IP addresses should be resolved. If they are not, and you still see the "Determining IP" message, you have probably changed the IP address of the wrong Network Card.
