Model DI-788 is a 32-channel data acquisition system based on our 8B-style modular signal conditioners (view the DI-8B module selection guide) and Third Generation Ethernet (3GE) communications. The DI-788 is packaged in an enclosure that measures 16.5W × 18.5D × 3.5H inches (41.9W × 47D × 8.9H centimeters) that is suitable for placement on a desktop, or can be mounted in a standard 19-inch rack using optional brackets. It’s also the first product from DATAQ Instruments to feature a built-in switching AC power supply, allowing it to be powered directly from AC line voltage.
The DI-788 features similar data acquisition performance as our model DI-720-EN, but is supplied with two built-in 16- channel 5B module backplanes allowing up to 32 DI-8B modules to be installed bringing the universe of isolated industrial measurements to the DI-788. DI-8B modules can measure thermocouple, voltage, strain, frequency, process current, RTD, potentiometric, and RMS. Modules may be mixed and matched in any combination suitable for your application. Signal connection is via eight removable screw terminal blocks.
The DI-788 can connect to any local area network (LAN), and direct Internet access is also possible when allowed by the network. The interface uses CAT-5 cable to yield continuous data acquisition rates up to 180,000 samples per second throughput for a single DI-788. Multiple DI-788s connected to the same network can achieve throughput rates as high as 2,500,000 samples per second or more. Adding more flexibility, multiple DI-788s, as well as DI-720/-730 products, each equipped with an Ethernet interface, may be daisy-chained together with CAT-5 cable to form an ad-hoc extended network of autonomous, yet fully synchronous data acquisition stations. Each station can sample at the same or different rate as other stations and still maintain full synchronization. The maximum distance between stations is 100 meters. This daisy-chained, synchronous aspect of the product is patent-pending.
Daisy chain multiple DI-788 and/or DI-720/730/785 products for a fully synchronous distributed Ethernet Data Acquisition System. Learn more here.
32 DI-8B signal conditioned input channelsall within a single enclosureconnect you to the entire spectrum of industrial measurements: VDC, VAC, Thermocouple, RTD, Frequency, Current, Potentiometer, and Strain. Built-in 600V input-to-output isolation lets you make any measurement you need under any circumstances.
Oversampling and signal averaging, minimum value, or maximum value burst reporting options provide excellent data reduction analysis techniques for many applications.
Be up and running minutes out of the box with WinDaq acquisition and playback software. WinDaq/Lite software is included free with the purchase of every DI-788 instrument. WinDaq/Lite operates at a maximum throughput recording rate of 240 Hz with a DI-788 Instrument. Purchase WinDaq/Pro or WinDaq/Pro+ to record at the full sample rate. See the differences between all 3 versions of WinDaq Acquisition Software.
WinDaq Waveform Browser, our playback and analysis software for Windows, is distributed free with WinDaq/Lite and is included free with every WinDaq/Pro or WinDaq/Pro+ purchase. It is also available for download free-of-charge from this Web site. Use it to review, measure, compare, and analyze the waveform file after it has been recorded by WinDaq acquisition software. WinDaq software products support up to 14 bits of measurement resolution.
