USB Data Acquisition Module Offers High Performance at Low Cost
AKRON, OH, June 1, 2004 — DATAQ® Instruments announces the release of their DI-148 low-cost data acquisition module. It provides eight channels of single-ended analog input with a ±10V range and 10-bit resolution, as well as six channels of digital I/O-all at a fraction of the price of units offering fewer features. The unit also features a built-in channel scan list and the fastest scan rate in their class. Priced at just $50, no other product in its class offers better price/performance. The DI-148 is supplied with a USB interface that supports a maximum sample throughput rate to 14,400 Hz, which is unmatched in this class of equipment. The unit takes its power from the host computer, with no need for an external power supply.
The DI-148 is housed in a small plastic enclosure that measures 66D × 66W × 28H mm (2.6D × 2.6W × 1.1H inches). Access to signal commons, digital I/O, and analog inputs is provided through a pair of built-in, eight-position screw terminal blocks.
Number of analog input channels: 8 single-ended
A/D resolution: 10 bits
Digital I/O: 6 lines
The DI-148 is shipped with WinDaq real time waveform acquisition, display, recording, and analysis software; and ActiveX library.
Key Product Features
- Built-In Channel Scan List — Eliminates unpredictable channel skews, and allows channels to be selectively enabled or disabled to precisely match the requirements of the application.
- Wide Sample Rate Throughput Range from Sub-Hertz to Over 14,400 Hertz — Allows the DI-148 to connect to a wide range of both static and dynamic signals.
- Low Price
The DI-148 is useful anywhere high-level signals in the range from about ±2 V to ±10 V need to be acquired to a laptop or desktop PC for long-term or short-term measurements. These could include high-level signal acquisition for industrial monitoring and recording in maintenance and troubleshooting, as well as quality control applications to measure programmable logic controller (PLC) parameters; general purpose voltage measurements up to 10 volts; and high-level transducer outputs for force, pressure/vacuum, torque, load, distance, etc. The digital I/O lines can be used for general-purpose control. Other suggested applications include equipment testing (in-vehicle or industrial) and life-sciences research involving small, medium, and large animals for preamplified blood pressures and flows and electrophysiology measurements like ECG, EMG and EOG signals.
