IMPROVED WinDaq/XL SOFTWARE FOR MS EXCEL BOOSTS SPEED AND ADDS POST-ACQUISITION DATA PLAYBACK
AKRON, OH - November 20, 2001 — DATAQ Instruments, Inc. today announced enhancements to its WinDaq/XL data acquisition software that enable data to be acquired and viewed from within Microsoft's Excel spreadsheet application in real time, or played back later. Concurrently, WinDaq/XL's real-time throughput to Excel has been increased to as much as 5,000 samples per second (depending upon computer processing speed), which represents an improvement of up to 10' over similar data acquisition software products.'
/XL Add-in Mates WinDaq to Excel
WinDaq/XL seamlessly integrates DATAQ's WinDaq data acquisition software products with the powerful graphing and analysis capabilities of Microsoft's Excel spreadsheet. WinDaq/XL is a software add-in for Microsoft Excel that enables DATAQ's WinDaq/Lite, /Pro, and /Pro+ data acquisition packages to stream data directly to Excel. Data acquisition hardware can be controlled from within Excel as well, making this one of the fastest, easiest-to-use methods available for gathering, displaying, and storing test data directly to disk.
Powerful Analysis and Graphing
Data acquisition users frequently need to derive more insight from acquired data in real time than primary signals can provide. The ability to quickly and easily set up "calculated channels" within Excel permits signals and sensor outputs to be combined, manipulated, and compared in terms of the actual parameters they represent. For example, torque and rpm can be combined to derive horsepower. Statistical analyses such as means, peaks, medians, standard deviations, can be applied to raw data to provide more meaningful information. WinDaq/XL facilitates these operations by applying the calculating power of Excel to data acquired with WinDaq/Lite, /Pro, or /Pro+.
Users and Applications
The WinDaq/XL software solution is aimed at a variety of users and applications, including those who need to combine WinDaq-acquired waveforms mathematically to yield calculated channels in real time. Once resident in the Excel spreadsheet, data can be presented in a graphic format other than WinDaq's native waveform-versus-time format, including bar, column, and pie charting options. Furthermore, data acquisition projects can be completed rapidly, without requiring the investment of a great deal of time in programming. WinDaq/XL with MS Excel provide a true no-programming environment based on the "look and feel" of Microsoft's universally known Excel spreadsheet.
WinDaq/XL offers extreme ease of use while maintaining the simplicity of Excel. The user specifies a few parameters within the Excel spreadsheet, after which data acquisition and display occur automatically. The WinDaq application and Excel spreadsheet run independently, and are unaffected by each other. WinDaq and Excel screens may both be displayed simultaneously, or WinDaq can be run in "Minimized," in the background to permit viewing only the Excel screen.
